Poetry as art! Come see an installation of Jen Payne’s poetry called Random Acts of Writing: Pushing Time, at the Arts Council of Greater New Haven’s exhibit Shuffle & Shake, in the Sumner McKnight Crosby Jr. Gallery.

July 7-August 4, 2016
Opening Reception: July 14 from 5-7pm

Random Acts of Writing: Pushing Time is a literary installation that includes three poems “There Is No Synonym for Reunion, “Alternate Ending,” and “Transubstantiation.” Each poem explores the transience of time and how we dance along with it — Gracefully. Gratefully. Listen carefully and you’ll hear whispers of Alice in Wonderland, Mahatma Gandhi, René Magritte, Isaac Newton, and Gene Roddenberry.

Shuffle & Shake is a two-part exhibition featuring randomly selected artist members of the Arts Council. Part 1, Shuffle, will take place July 7-August 4 with a reception on Thursday, July 14 from 5-7pm. Part 2, Shake, will take place August 11-September 8 with a reception on September 8 from 5-7pm. The artwork will be on view to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at the gallery located at 70 Audubon Street, Second Floor, New Haven. There is no fee.

Shuffle will feature artists Kathy Conway, Eileen Eder, Tony Falcone, Maris Fiondella, Mary Lachmann, Alice Merlone, Hank Paper, Jennifer Payne, and Regina Thomas.

Shake will will feature artists Jennifer Davies, Kathleen DeMeo, Katie Henderson, Susan Shutan, Marcela Staudenmaier, and Mary Wolfe.
