Did you know that my first zine — The Latest News — came out in the early 1990s? It was during the golden age of Factsheet Five and Mike Gunderloy. Back in the day, The Latest News was included in a national exhibit called Some Zines: American Alternative & Underground Magazines, Newsletters & APAs, and featured in several books including Notes from Underground: Zines and the Politics of Alternative Culture and The World of Zines: A Guide to the Independent Magazine Revolution.
Flash forward to the 2020s…
It was rather serendipitous that the first issue of my second zine — MANIFEST (zine) — came out just in time for International Zine Month in 2020! It’s two years old now and there’s a lot to celebrate!
Since its debut, there have been eight issues of MANIFEST (zine) : Divine Intervention, Cat Lady Confessions, It’s About Time, Crickets, Refuge: The Quarantine Zine, Lexicon Zoom, Water, and Endemic. The first issue, Divine Intervention, was retired in June 2022, and the ninth issue — Heroically Found — is already transforming itself into something pretty exciting!
MANIFEST (zine) has earned some awesome reviews, boasts a pretty steady group of readers and fans, and has given me a new way to put my writing and my heart out into the world.
Thank you for the opportunity to keep at it! Thank you for your support!
